SALE! MARC JACOBS COAT FOR £250

Yo guys, sorry about the lack of quality posts at the moment. I've been busy with work and not been feeling hugely inspired fashion wise recently. I DID go slightly crazy in the sales and pick myself up some goodies from Urban Outfitters, Jeffrey Campbell, Mulberry and Toppers amongst others, but I've seen loads of sale posts around recently so I figured you guys probably wouldn't give a tiny rats ass about my swag.

I promise to be back with a vengeance in the next few weeks. I've been doing some really exciting things this past wee while - including working on a lookbook shoot, expect awesome photos soon - and I'm back in at the Herald this week so hopefully that will kickstart my fashion mojo again.

IN THE MEANTIME, I wanted to let y'all know, in case anyone's interested, I'm going to be having a bit of a clearout. I've accumulated SO MUCH SHIT this last year and yes I know, it's a hilarious running joke with my pals, but I have GOT to stop spending as much cash on clothes and start saving if I ever want to move out/do anything of real value. It's deep, guys. It's deep.

SO, to that end I present my first offering for sale - my gorgeous, and now totally SOLD OUT Marc by Marc Jacobs boucle-wool cardi coat:

It features a comfy, slouchy fit, notched over-sized lapels, long sleeves with cuffs that turn up to reveal striped lining (but you can keep them turned down too if you want), two gold buttons to fasten and flap pockets at front.

This coat is beautiful, super soft and comfy, but I've only had it on twice and feel like it deserves to be worn much more. I won it as part of my Net a Porter prize back at the end of 2010 and it was £555. In the Net a Porter sale it went down to £388 BUT I'm selling it now for £250. A considerable markdown for a virtually BRAND NEW designer coat!

Believe me, I DO love this and wouldn't part with it were it not for the fact that it's just a little too long/big in general. I have it in the small size but it would comfortably fit sizes 10-14+ since it's over-sized and stretchy/slouchy wool (not massively structured). I'm 5"2 however, and find it fits a bit long on me. Shame to have to sell it but c'est la vie.

I'd prefer to sell it on here than Ebay since the last time I tried that it was big ole mess and I got WAY confused. SO, if you want it, leave a comment or e-mail me at k-mclaren@hotmail.com. I'll only be accepting PayPal and I can discuss sending you it out when you contact me.

First come first serve. If no-one wants it it'll be going on ebay!

Just for fun, here's a cool Asian chick rocking it...

You GO wit you're bad self!

I'll more than likely be selling other stuff on here in the weeks to come, including a vintage mohair tartan cape and possibly some more designer threadz.

Keep em peeled!

Gray bouclé-wool cardi-coat with two gold button fastenings at double-breasted front. 61% wool, 35% alpaca, 4% other; sleeve lining: 100% acetate. Dry clean. Designer color: Waking Night.

MULBERRY BARGAIN!

Say hello to my new winter/spring tweed boyfriend coat, courtesy of the irresistible Mulberry sale...

I have something similar from Topshop but it's totally done, and I couldn't resist this bargain - £275 down from £595! Real tweed and check out those gold buttons... Swish.

I love a boxy, mannish coat so I do, total epitome of dress up or down. Seems like a bit of a splurge but I mainly just got money from Santa and I was privy to a cheeky wee tax rebate recently so BAYUM, I just went and bought it! Cannot WAIT for it to arrive.

There's hunners of other things in the sale, including that gorgeous dress Fearne Cotton wore on Children and Need (totes stunning - when she gets it right she gets it RIGHT) so have a swatch, but be quick!

AUTUMN WITH MULBERRY

We are blessed big-time here in Glasgow to have a gorgeous Mulberry store in the heart of the city centre, and last week I got to spend some time hanging about there while returning a Fox Lock satchel and Tilly from a shoot... Basically I stood twirling moronically on the spot (think Belle from Beauty & The Beast in the library scene) breathing in the heady scent of leather like it was my own personal brand of heroin for about 15 minutes. Casual like.

Something about Mulberry bags man... They do WEIRD things to me.

Anyway, I'm feeling UBER inspired by their AW11 lookbook at the moment, what with it feeling decidedly autumnal these days...

Pretty, huh? Here's my pick of the best Mulberry bags and accessories for autumn. Sigh, a girl can dream...

Swooning my ass off over here.

5 OF THE BEST: TOPSHOP

Been spending so much time lusting after Venice-appropriate vintage treasures that I've sorely neglected the "new in" feature on Topshop.

I've well and truly learned my lesson! Check out what I've been missing...

Behold my new winter coat. The big furry bit is adorable but detachable, and mainly I love it for the cocoon shape and tobacco colour. SWOON. Be mine NOW!

I didn't love this bag at first but the more I consider it the more it grows on me. Leather, pleated straps, fringe, gratuitous fake gold chain... tackily wonderful, I'm sold!

Love it, love it, love it! My inner freak is screaming "WEAR ORANGE LIPPY AND BIG EARRINGS WITH THIS" which would clash and look mental, but that's exactly why I'm loving it. So versatile...
Oh hey McQueen knock offs. Practically perfect in every way. I have hunners of chunky wedges and boots and stuff, but I think it's about time I really get into stilettos. Ladylike innit.
I've been looking for a bright cropped knit for AGES and this is just glorious and would go immensely well with my new H&M pleather flippy skirt, right?

Ooooh winter, I am feeling you again. Roll on!

SHE JUST PUNCHED HER IN THE FACE!

Another Saturday spent at work and another night spent watching Xfactor and Ultimate Big Brother with only my cat for company. Ho hum! However, things to look forward to - my tat is definitely booked for Tuesday so when it's done I will post a picture. Unfortunately my photos from Edinburgh were horrendous as usual - lots of ones of the road, the inside of my bag, my shoes, close ups of my eye make-up and about 100 of my and my friend posing and pouting. Facing reality here when I say photography is NOT my forte.

On to considerably more exciting things! Topshop Unique's AW2010 collection lands this month - indeed a few pieces are already online. I remember being ridiculously excited by this back what seems like EONS ago when I first saw it. There were some who were totally turned off by the furry woodland-creature-type theme (I'm thinking of a particular article here, possibly Grazia? Can't remember ahh!) but I was proudly on the opposing team. Like I've said before, the AW shows always excite me so much more than the SS ones, but even I was impressed by Unique's SS effort. I bought the long faded distressed denim shirt and wore it constantly throughout summer, so I had high hopes for them for AW.

Toppers' in-house design folks did not disappoint. Loved loved LOVED it. Favourite looks include...

So many looks to chose from, don't make me pick a favourite! The last one is like something out of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe - a cross between the White Witch and Mr Tumnus. I also really hope the long chunky cardigan is released to buy... Although being 5ft 2, it could look ridiculous on me...

I digress. This collection totally does it for me - quirky, fun, comfy, practical, young, wearable, textured... and totally sums up the whole feeling of winter - cosying up in front of the fire, wrapping up in layer after layer of textured fabric to brave the frost outside... OH GOD why isn't it winter yet???

In other news, Zara's online shop launched this week. If there is one shop that represents the absolute antithesis of my previous excitement, it's Zara. Believe me, I've TRIED to like Zara. I've bought one or two things from them in the past - a leopard print bag and a silk leopard print blouse that I actually really love - but every time I go in I am BORED. I'm bored with the sheer amount of camel and beige and cream. I'm fed up with the shapeless dresses and shirts, I'm sick of seeing hundreds of trousers that all look the same... I basically feel like it's just not a shop for me. I can appreciate a well made, well tailored pair of trousers, but, I mean, I haven't actually worn a pair since 2006.

HOWEVER, what with my recent penchant for purchasing anything and, quite literally everything online, I perused their new online shop today at work.

Now, I enjoy a good skive, maybe more than I should probably admit, but to my dismay I pretty much gave up trying to get interested and went back to work after about 10 mins. Dear me, Zara, in my book that's what they call a FAIL.

Some of the (in my opinion) most lacklustre pieces:

I mean, this plain, unassuming, cotton, single-breasted coat is £89.99!

This "dress" is £50??

I know EVERY single magazine is telling me that trousers are a AW10 wardrobe staple, and I'm not against them in principle, but I could literally fall asleep looking at these - £40.

I feel bad, I'm not trying to slag off Zara, but I just really cannot get excited by them. Part of me thinks I'm not Zara's target market anyway so I'm sure they won't care, but actually when I think about it I probably am. I'm 23, working full time, have money to spend and want to look smart (sometimes), so why am I left so cold by them?

Anyway, so as not to end on a downer, this arrived for me today :)

And this skirt is in the post :) :) (after being back ordered for no less than 7 weeks - doesn't bode well for American Apparel).
